Did you know that an RV vacation is typically 20-60% less expensive than a traditional hotel and airplane vacation?
Not only can RV traveling be budget-friendly, but it’s also a fantastic way to explore nature, cities, and towns. With the right trailer accessories, RV vacations can be simple and tons of fun.
If you’re new to RVing, preparing for the first trip or camping experience might feel a little daunting.
But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. With the proper items and gear, there’s no reason your RV experience will be anything but seamless.
- Electric Trailer Jack
For those of you with a vehicle able to tow larger items, an RV trailer might be better suited to you than a mobile home. They can be a lot less expensive, for starters!
With a trailer, you’ll need a trailer jack to tow the vehicle. You can get a manual jack, but if you’re planning on driving your trailer- rather than staying in one spot- it’s a lot easier to get an electric one.
If you need help choosing an electric jack for camper, there are plenty of resources online that can help you feel confident with your decision.
- Surge Protector
You have to be prepared for power spikes and dips when you’re at a campground. They are common, so it’s crucial to have the proper tools to avoid damage.
A surge protector keeps unsteady electricity and voltage spikes from causing harm. Surge protectors that plug into the RV are easy, and likely all you will need.
- Power Adapter
The last thing you want is to arrive at a campsite only to find out that the electrical output doesn’t work with the RV’s power plug. It’s so important to have a power adapter for this reason.
You don’t need anything too fancy, but it’s important to have something available when you need it.
- Leveling Blocks
It would be fantastic if everywhere you went, leveled ground was accessible. Obviously that’s not the case (not even on paved ground). It’s important to have leveling blocks for this reason.
Some trailers have an automatic leveling system so check to see if yours does. If not, it’s easy to get leveling blocks to raise some of the tires and even your RV out.
- Freshwater Hose
This might not be on your radar, but if you’re hoping to drink or use water while in your trailer, keep it in mind! Many campgrounds can be quite far away from water connections, so having a fresh water hose that can extend up to 50 feet can make your life a lot easier.
You could also go with two shorter freshwater hoses and connect them if that’s a better option for you! Make sure you go with a reliable hose to avoid kinks or leakage.
