    Charging Your Phone Near or On Your Bed:

    Although you may think this is a super convenient way to charge your phone while also being able to use it easily, charging your phone near or on your bed can be quite dangerous- especially if you put your phone under your pillow while you sleep. Alongside having proven effects to disrupt your sleep, your phone can also be a flammable hazard. This is because our bed sheets aren’t fire-proof, and our phones tend to get home when they’re charging. Additionally, our phones don’t have the chance to cool down if they are charging under our pillows so they can overheat- and in more serious cases- even explode.

    Not Cleaning Door Handles:

    How many of us can truly admit that when we clean our homes, we tend to leave out the door handles? Even in a post-Covid world, we tend to neglect our door handles as we don’t think they’re that dirty. However, when you think about it logically, they’re touched by various different people which can enhance the spread of germs and viruses.

    Forgetting to Clean Your Pet Bowls:

    Hands up- we’re all guilty of topping up our pet’s food bowls without giving them a wash first- a habit which must stop! As we know, animals aren’t the cleanest of eaters- and if their bowls go uncleaned then this can become a breeding ground for bacteria to spread and inevitably make our pets ill. Therefore, it’s a good idea to wash any bowls at least once a week in diluted bleach water.

    Wearing Shoes Indoors:

    While most people take their shoes off when they come indoors, some people tend to wear theirs throughout the house. However, this can be a very dirty habit- even if your shoes don’t seem visibly dirty. Studies have shown that on average, the soles of our shoes are covered in around 421,000 units of bacteria- so begin leaving your shoes at the door!

    Using Too Much Bleach:

    You may think that bleach can make your house spotless, but in reality- it may be having a worse effect than you think. Using too much bleach can actually be quite harmful to you as a person, as not only is it corrosive to your eyes and skin, but if you breathe too much of it in, you can actually damage your lungs. Instead, a great alternative is to use environmentally friendly cleaning products. Either using baking soda with your laundry detergent, or mixing apple cider vinegar with warm water is a better alternative to cleaning your home without needing bleach.
