She was born into fame
Hollywood was always calling for Carrie Fisher, with her born into a family who were in show business.
Her father Eddie was a singer and her mother Debbie Reynolds was an actress. She was raised largely by her mother and even dropped out of high school to star in a Broadway show alongside her mother.
That helped her onto a pathway to stardom and it wasn’t long before she was known as Princess Leia.
She got engaged to Dan Aykroyd after an unfortunate incident with a sprout
Carrie Fisher was only married once, but it was almost twice after she became engaged to actor Dan Aykroyd.
On the set of The Blues Brothers, after the pair had been dating for a little while, Fisher began to choke on some Brussels sprouts. Aykroyd jumped to her aid, saved her life and then popped the question!
She said yes, but the pair never managed to make it to the wedding day.
She was big friends with James Blunt
You often find unlikely friendships in Hollywood, but few are as unlikely as Fisher and James Blunt. The British singer and former soldier was close with Carrie after meeting in the early 2000s as he was in the process of recording his debut album.
